Non sugary call to vote...

I wanted to write a post about registering to vote but Atom Lim did it better so Im reposting this with his permission

Stop the rhetoric by Atom Lim

I could ask you to go and register to vote but I am not sure you believe the vote will count...
I could ask you to brave it in April and stand in queues without knowing when and where thugs will attack but I am not sure your family wants to have such a hero...

I could ask you to believe in people power but I am not sure you are familiar with happenings in Tunisia and other countries...

I could ask you to be a patriot but I am not sure what the word means in these parts...

I could ask you to crave an accountable and responsible leadership but I am not sure you are a responsible and accountable follower...

I could ask you to have faith in Nigeria but I am not sure you have faith in your Nigerian citizenship...

So I am stopping the rhetoric and asking you to search your soul and answer this question: If the opportunity were to present itself, as the forthcoming general election does, would you be there to make a difference?

If you are convinced you want change; stop the rhetoric, find your way to a voter registration centre, mobilize everyone within your area of influence for the April polls and, as one people, be brave enough to resist the few who will attempt to intimidate you knowing you may die in the struggle.

If the cost of change is too high; sleep in your home... pray to God everyday... go to school not knowing when you will graduate or to work not knowing when the boss will pay the peanuts you work so hard for... then return home to the hum and fumes of your neighbour's generator...take a walk out and eat Mama Iyabo's food prepared and served around the filled and oozing gutters on your street... and at night, sleep in your mosquito-infested room not knowing if it is armed robbers or Boko Haram that will attack...

When you wake in the morning, go to the local vendor for the day's news and as you read the headlines of politicians milking us dry, repeat what you have been saying for years, "E go better".

I loved this people! locate your registration point here Visit www.enoughisenoughnigeria.com for voter moblization news and tools... www.voteorquench.org
